A Different Mindset
Case Study Summary:
To draw light on spousal and child abused I chose to do a mini-documentary on a young woman and her kids to post on Lady V. Production LLC YouTube channel. The film revolved around Kshamta Wilson and her kid's struggles being in an abusive environment with her mother and ex-husband.
I reached out to Kshamta to discuss my idea of presenting her story. She liked my idea and was eager to tell her story of past spousal abuse. We both agreed that her telling her story would bring light to spousal and child abuse.
The Challenge:
After going through Kshamta audio interview and video recording I realized that although I had a lot of content for the documentary it wasn't on a specific topic. Both raw audio and video footage didn't convey the story about her pass abuse clearly.
The Solution:
To resolve the issue with the raw footage not having a clear storyline about Kshamta pass abuse I created a clear storyline during pre-production by editing both audio and video recording in Premiere Pro and Audition. After editing I sent the video to Kshamta to get her approval. Once approved I uploaded the final post-production video on YouTube.
Results:
In the end, I was able to tell Kshamta story dealing with past abuse. How she was able to overcome past trauma to become a better woman and a mother. I was able to present her story using film. I was able to capture Kshamta personality through film. By uploading the video on YouTube her story will be able to reach others. The video was viewed six+ time on YouTube.
This project taught me the power of using video to tell someone's story.
